Description
I had an idea to do a series based loosely on natural poisons in the middle of a biochemistry lecture (possibly, as they mentioned alpha-amanitin) so here's the first one, Opium, from the Opium poppy.Opium comes from the latex which is released by opium seed pods and contains up to 16% morphine as well as other weaker/ non-narcotic alkoliods.
Morphine from the opium poppy is the most powerful pain killer in nature and has been used by people for many thousands of years for medicinal purposes. It is however, lethal in high doses as morphine binds to and activates μ-opioid receptors in the brain, spinal cord, stomach and intestine.
Records of opium use as a recreational drug began in China in the 15th century and later the British grew opium poppies in India and shipped the opium to China... the Chinese imperial government in the 19th century carried out a mass confiscation of opium which lead to the Opium Wars between China and Britain in both 1840 and 1858.
_______________________________
The picture itself draws influences from Chinese landscape ink paintings, Michael Hussar's painting "Morphine" (appropriate!) and Mucha's decorative illustrations.

Pros:1. its very pretty the hand coming out looks very real
2. background was done very nice. 3. as soon as I seen this as it reminded me of http://blackeri.gfxartist.com/ series Cons:since its called Opium maybe adding some Opium flowers some where on this would have been cool. I think I see one on top of her head. but I think adding more would be nice... but thats just me.
the hand thats in back is positioned as if shes hearing something was that done intentionally? the fabric I think could be a tad sharper its sorta faded it would be nice to see the fabric print. Overall opinion/feedback:very nice work.

I totally dig the dead-looking landscape and the skulls and branches.
Don't agree with the kitty about the flowers, I like it more subtle.
I only dislike the way she looks or maybe it's something about the atmosphere. It's not dreamy enough to represent opium for my taste. Maybe eyes a bit more closed or something along those lines.

The back arm looks a bit too short.
I think the feet could use more work as well.

The colors are great especially the skintones
There are some anatomical issues; her left arm is too short,
the shoulder part lacks definition, and her feet are a bit too square-like.
The framing is beautiful, so is the drapery

Only the left foot is too square-like, like wallace said.

The down side is that I feel like I've seen it before.

Just one thing. The figure positioning doesn't seem grounded, which isn't really a problem - she could be floating - but was wondering is she was supposed to appear to be sitting on the frame of the background painting.
